hace algunos años, fui confrontada, por una mujer de aborigen sur América, por su acento pude detectar su origen u nacionalidad, por su notable acento verbal.
Sus quejas eran:
¿el porque los grande exponente de la palabra de Dios, no predican tanto de las enseñanza, o parábola que enseño El Maestro, Nuestro Señor Jesucristo A sus discípulos?.
Yo observaba aquella mujer, y conversaba amenamente con ella, sobre el tema, todos los ayi presente estaban escuchando a la mujer, la cual continuaba hablando y sin percatarse de hecho estaba predicando, en aquella ocasión!.
La mujer se basaba únicamente en la famosa parábola del hijo prodigo; recuerdo que dijo:
todos sin accesión somos hijos prodigo, en esta nación, porque dejamos nuestra casa y nación y no marchamos.
Leamos este oráculo especial, de enseñanza divina, quizás sea o no sea su caso.

Los privilegios del hijo
“Hijo, tú siempre estás conmigo, y todas mis cosas son tuyas” (Lc.31);
Las palabras de este texto son familiares a todos nosotros. El hijo mayor se había quejado y había dicho que aunque su padre hizo un banquete e hizo matar el becerro gordo para el hijo pródigo, a él nunca le había dado ni un cabrito para disfrutar con sus amigos.
La respuesta del padre fue: «Hijo, tú siempre estás conmigo, y todas mis cosas son tuyas». Uno no puede tener una revelación más maravillosa del corazón de nuestro Padre celestial que lo que nos ilustra esto. A menudo hablamos de la maravillosa revelación del corazón del padre en su bienvenida al hijo pródigo, y en lo que hizo para él. Pero aquí tenemos una revelación mucho más maravillosa del amor del padre en lo que él dice al hijo mayor.
Si vamos a experimentar una profundización de la vida espiritual, queremos, por un lado, descubrir claramente cuál es la vida espiritual que Dios quiere que vivamos; y por otro, preguntarnos si estamos viviendo esa vida; y si no, qué nos impide vivirla plenamente.
Este tema se divide naturalmente en tres partes:
1. El alto privilegio de cada hijo de Dios.
2. La baja experiencia de muchos creyentes. 3. La causa de la discrepancia; y el camino a la restauración del privilegio.
1. El alto privilegio de los hijos de Dios.
Tenemos aquí dos cosas que describen el privilegio: Primero, «Hijo, tú siempre estás conmigo» – la comunión constante con su Padre es su porción; y segundo, «Todas mis cosas son tuyas” – todo lo que Dios puede conceder a Sus hijos es de ellos.
«Tú siempre estás conmigo»; “Yo estoy siempre cerca de ti; tú puedes morar cada hora de tu vida en Mi presencia, y todo lo que tengo es para ti. Soy un padre, con el corazón de un padre amoroso. No quitaré ninguna buena cosa de ti.” En estas promesas tenemos el rico privilegio de la herencia de Dios. En primer lugar, tenemos una continua comunión con Él.
Un padre nunca envía a su hijo lejos sin recordarle que lo ama. El padre anhela que su hijo sepa que tiene la luz de su rostro sobre él todo el día; que, si él despide al hijo a la escuela, o a los lugares que la necesidad obliga, ello es con un sentido de sacrificio de los sentimientos paternos. Si esto es así con un padre terrenal, ¿cuánto más Dios? ¿Acaso él no quiere que cada hijo Suyo sepa que constantemente vive en la luz de Su rostro? En esto está el significado de aquella palabra: «Hijo, tú siempre estás conmigo».
Este era el privilegio del pueblo de Dios en los tiempos del Antiguo Testamento. Como la Palabra nos dice, «Enoc caminó con Dios».
La promesa de Dios a Jacob era: “He aquí, yo estoy contigo, y te guardaré por dondequiera que fueres, y volveré a traerte a esta tierra; porque no te dejaré hasta que haya hecho lo que te he dicho”. Y la promesa de Dios a Israel por medio de Moisés fue: «Mi presencia irá contigo, y te daré descanso”. Y en la respuesta de Moisés a la promesa, él dice: «¿Y en qué se conocerá aquí que he hallado gracia en tus ojos, yo y tu pueblo, sino en que tú andes con nosotros, y que yo y tu pueblo seamos apartados de todos los pueblos que están sobre la faz de la tierra?”.
La presencia de Dios con Israel era la señal de su separación de otros pueblos. Esta es la verdad enseñada en todo el Antiguo Testamento; y si es así, ¿cuánto más podemos buscarlo en el Nuevo Testamento? Así, encontramos a nuestro Salvador que promete a los que le aman y a quienes guardan Su palabra, que el Padre también los amará, y que el Padre y el Hijo vendrán y harán morada con ellos.
Deje este pensamiento entrar en su corazón, que el hijo de Dios está llamado a este bendito privilegio: vivir cada momento de su vida en comunión con Dios. Él está llamado a disfrutar de la luz plena de Su rostro. Hay muchos cristianos –supongo que la mayoría– que parecen considerar toda la obra del Espíritu como limitada a la convicción y a la conversión – no tanto a que Él haya venido para morar en nuestros corazones, y allí revelarnos a Dios.
Él no vino a morar cerca de nosotros, sino en nosotros, para que nosotros estemos llenos interiormente.
La Palabra nos manda ser «llenos del Espíritu», entonces el Espíritu Santo nos hará manifiesta la presencia de Dios.
Esta es la enseñanza de toda la epístola a los Hebreos: el velo está rasgado en dos, y tenemos acceso al Lugar Santísimo por medio de la sangre de Jesús. Entramos en la presencia misma de Dios para que podamos vivir todo el día con esa presencia descansando sobre nosotros.
Aquella presencia está con nosotros dondequiera que vamos; y en todas las clases de problemas tenemos el reposo tranquilo y la paz. «Hijo, tú siempre estás conmigo”.
Hay alguna gente que parece pensar que Dios, por alguna soberanía ininteligible, aparta Su rostro. Pero yo sé que Dios ama demasiado a su pueblo como para retirar Su comunión de ellos por cualquier razón.
La verdadera razón de la ausencia de Dios de nosotros debe buscarse en nuestro pecado e incredulidad, y no en una supuesta soberanía suya. Si el hijo de Dios anda en la fe y la obediencia, la presencia Divina será disfrutada en una comunión ininterrumpida.
Entonces está el siguiente bendito privilegio: «Todas mis cosas son tuyas». Gracias a Dios, Él nos ha dado a Su propio Hijo; y en su dádiva, Él nos ha dado todas las cosas que están en Él.
Él nos ha dado la vida de Cristo, Su amor, Su Espíritu, Su gloria. «Todo es vuestro, y vosotros de Cristo, y Cristo de Dios.»Todas las riquezas de Su Hijo, el Rey eterno, el Padre las concede a cada uno de Sus hijos. «Hijo, tú siempre estás conmigo, y todas mis cosas son tuyas». ¿No es eso el significado de todas esas maravillosas promesas dadas en conexión con la oración: “Todo cuanto pidiereis al Padre en mi nombre, os lo dará”? Sí, ese es.
Esta es la vida de los hijos de Dios, tal como Él mismo nos la ha presentado a nosotros.
2. La baja experiencia de muchos de nosotros
En contraste con este alto privilegio de los creyentes, observa la baja experiencia de muchos de nosotros.
El hijo mayor vivía con su padre y le había servido esos “tantos años”; pero él se queja de que su padre nunca le dio un cabrito, mientras le dio el becerro gordo a su hermano pródigo. ¿Por qué fue así? Simplemente porque él no lo pidió.
Él no creyó que lo obtendría, y por lo tanto, nunca lo pidió, y nunca disfrutó de ello.
Él siguió viviendo así en murmuración e insatisfacción permanente; y la nota clave de toda esta vida desgraciada se resume en lo que él dijo.
Su padre le dio todo, pero nunca disfrutó de ello; y él echa la culpa entera sobre su amoroso y bondadoso padre. Oh, amados, ¿no es ésta la vida de muchos creyentes? ¿No hablan y actúan muchos de este modo? Cada creyente tiene la promesa de comunión ininterrumpida con Dios, pero dice: «No he disfrutado de ello; me he esforzado y he hecho todo lo posible; he orado por la bendición, pero supongo que Dios no me considera apto para concedérmela.» Pero ¿por qué no? Uno dice, es la soberanía de Dios que retiene la bendición.
El padre no retuvo, en su soberanía, sus dones al hermano mayor; ni tampoco nuestro Padre celestial retiene ninguna cosa buena para aquellos que le aman. Él no hace tales diferencias entre Sus hijos. «Poderoso es Dios para hacer que abunde en vosotros toda gracia” era la promesa hecha a todos igualmente en la iglesia en Corinto.
Algunos piensan que estas ricas bendiciones no son para ellos, sino para aquellos que tienen más tiempo para dedicar a la religión y la oración; o piensan que sus circunstancias son tan difíciles, tan especiales, que no podemos ni tener idea de sus muchos obstáculos. ¿Pero usted piensa que si Dios los ha puesto en esas circunstancias no puede hacer abundar Su gracia en proporción a ellas? Ellos admiten que Él podría hacerlo, si obrara un milagro, pero ellos apenas pueden esperar ese milagro. De algún modo, ellos, como el hijo mayor, le echan la culpa a Dios.
¡Así dicen muchos, cuando les he preguntado si disfrutan de la comunión permanente con Dios: «¡Ay, no! No he sido capaz de alcanzar tal altura; esto es demasiado para mí. Conozco de algunos que lo tienen, y leí sobre ello; pero Dios, por alguna razón, no me lo ha dado.
” Pero ¿por qué no? Usted piensa, quizás, que no tiene la misma capacidad para la bendición espiritual que otros tienen.
La Biblia habla de un gozo que es «inefable y glorioso» como fruto del creer; de un «amor de Dios (que) ha sido derramado en nuestros corazones por el Espíritu Santo que nos fue dado”.
¿Lo deseamos, verdad? ¿Por qué no conseguirlo? ¿Lo hemos pedido? Pensamos que no somos dignos de tal bendición – no somos bastante buenos, y por lo tanto, Dios no nos lo ha dado.
¡Hay entre nosotros muchos más de lo que pensamos –o de los que están dispuestos a admitir– que echan sobre Dios la culpa de su ceguera y alejamiento! ¡Tenga cuidado! ¡Tenga cuidado! ¡Tenga cuidado!
¿Y qué de esa otra promesa? El Padre dice: “Todo el que tengo es tuyo”. ¿Usted se está regocijando en las riquezas de Cristo? ¿Usted está consciente de tener un suministro abundante para todas sus necesidades espirituales de cada día? Dios tiene todas las riquezas en abundancia para usted.
“¡Usted nunca me dio un cabrito!”. La respuesta es: «Todo lo que tengo es tuyo. Te lo di en Cristo.”
Querido lector, tenemos pensamientos muy incorrectos acerca de Dios.
¿Cómo es Dios? No conozco ninguna imagen más hermosa e instructiva que la imagen del sol.
El sol nunca está cansado de brillar, de derramar sus rayos benéficos sobre los justos y los impíos. Usted podría cerrar las ventanas con persianas o ladrillos, y el sol brillaría sobre ellos igual; aunque nosotros pudiéramos sentarnos en la oscuridad –en la oscuridad completa– el brillo sería exactamente el mismo. El sol de Dios brilla sobre cada hoja; sobre cada flor; sobre cada brizna de hierba; sobre todo lo que brota de la tierra. Todos reciben la riqueza de la luz del sol hasta que ellos lleguen a la perfección y den fruto. ¿El que hizo el sol estará menos dispuesto a derramar Su amor y vida en mí? ¡El sol, cuánta belleza él crea! Y mi Dios, ¿no se deleitará en producir belleza y fructificación también en mí, tal como
Él ha prometido hacer? Y aún unos dicen, cuando se les pregunta acerca de por qué ellos no viven en comunión permanente con Dios: «Dios no me lo da, no sé por qué; esta es la única razón que yo puedo darle. Él no me lo ha dado.” ¿Usted recuerda la parábola de aquél que dijo, «Señor, te conocía que eres hombre duro, que siegas donde no sembraste y recoges donde no esparciste”, que pides y exiges lo que no has dado? ¡Oh! Déjenos examinar y preguntar por qué será que el creyente vive una experiencia tan baja.
3. La causa de la discrepancia entre los regalos de Dios y nuestra baja
experiencia.
El creyente se queja de que Dios nunca le ha dado un cabrito.
O bien, si Dios le ha dado alguna bendición, nunca le ha dado una bendición plena. Dios nunca lo ha llenado de Su Espíritu. «Yo nunca –dice– he tenido mi corazón como una fuente, manando los ríos de agua viva prometidos en Juan 7:38”.
¿Cuál es la causa? El hijo mayor pensó que él había servido fielmente esos «tantos años « en la casa de su padre, pero estaba en un espíritu de esclavitud y no en el espíritu de un hijo, entonces su incredulidad lo cegó a la realidad del amor y la bondad del padre, y todo ese tiempo él fue incapaz para ver que su padre estaba dispuesto, no sólo para darle un cabrito, sino cien, o mil cabritos, si él los hubiera pedido.
Él simplemente estuvo viviendo en incredulidad, en ignorancia, en ceguera, privándose de privilegios que el padre tenía para él. Si hay una discrepancia entre nuestra vida y el cumplimiento y disfrute de todas las promesas de Dios, es por alguna falla nuestra. Si nuestra experiencia no es lo que Dios quiere que sea, ello es debido a nuestra incredulidad en el amor de Dios, en el poder de Dios, y en la realidad de las promesas de Dios.
La palabra de Dios nos enseña, en la historia de los israelitas, que la incredulidad de ellos era la causa de sus problemas, y no alguna limitación o restricción de parte de Dios. Como el Salmo 78 dice: “Hendió las peñas en el desierto, y les dio a beber como de grandes abismos, pues sacó de la peña corrientes, e hizo descender aguas como ríos.” Aún ellos pecaron dudando de su poder de proporcionarles carne. “Hablaron contra Dios, diciendo: ¿Podrá poner mesa en el desierto?”. Más adelante leemos, en el versículo 41: «Y volvían, y tentaban a Dios, y provocaban al Santo de Israel”.
Ellos siguieron desconfiando de Él de vez en cuando.
Cuando llegaron a Cades-Barnea y Dios les dijo que entraran en la tierra que fluye leche y miel donde hallarían descanso, abundancia y victoria, sólo dos hombres dijeron: «Sí; podemos tomar posesión, porque Dios puede darnos la victoria.» Sin embargo, los diez espías, y los seiscientos mil hombres contestaron: «No; nunca podremos tomar la tierra; los enemigos son demasiado fuertes para nosotros.» Fue simplemente la incredulidad lo que les impidió entrar en la tierra prometida.
Si ha de haber alguna profundización en nuestra vida espiritual, debemos descubrir y reconocer la incredulidad que hay en nuestros corazones. Dios nos concede que obtengamos socorro y que lleguemos a ver que es nuestra incredulidad la que ha impedido a Dios hacer su obra en nosotros.
La incredulidad es la madre de la desobediencia, y de todos mis pecados y fracasos – mi ira, mi orgullo, mi falta de amor, mi mundanalidad, mis pecados de toda clase. Aunque éstos se diferencien en la naturaleza y la forma, aún así todos ellos vienen de una misma raíz, que es no creer en la libertad y la plenitud del don Divino del Espíritu Santo para morar en nosotros, fortalecernos y llenarnos de la vida y la gracia de Dios todo el día.
Observa, te ruego, al hijo mayor, y pregunta cuál fue la causa de aquella diferencia terrible entre el corazón del padre y la experiencia del hijo. No puede haber ninguna otra respuesta, excepto que fue la incredulidad pecaminosa lo que cegó completamente al hijo a la realidad del amor de su padre.
Querido creyente, quiero decirle que si usted no está viviendo en el gozo de la salvación de Dios, la única causa es su incredulidad. Usted no cree en el poder de Dios todopoderoso, y no cree que Él esté dispuesto, por Su Espíritu Santo, para producir un cambio completo en su vida y capacitarle para vivir en plena consagración a Él.
Dios está dispuesto a que usted viva así; pero usted no lo cree. ¡Si los hombres realmente creyeran en el amor infinito de Dios, qué cambio ello produciría! ¿Qué es el amor? Es el deseo de entregarse por el bien del objeto amado – lo contrario del egoísmo, como leemos en 1ª Cor.13: «El amor no busca lo suyo.» La madre está dispuesta a sacrificarse por el bien de su hijo.
Así también Dios, en Su amor, está siempre dispuesto a impartir bendición; y Él es omnipotente en Su amor.
Esto es verdadero, mis amigos: Dios es omnipotente en amor, y Él está haciendo todo lo posible por llenar cada corazón.
«Pero si Dios está realmente dispuesto, y si Él es Todopoderoso, ¿por qué Él no lo hace ahora?” Usted debe recordar que Dios le ha dado una voluntad, y por el ejercicio de ella usted puede obstaculizar a Dios, y permanecer conforme, como el hijo mayor, con una vida baja de incredulidad.
Veamos ahora la causa de la diferencia entre la alta y abundante provisión de Dios para Sus hijos, y la experiencia baja y triste de muchos de nosotros en la incredulidad que desconfía y entristece.
El camino de la restauración, ¿cómo se realiza?
Todos conocemos la parábola del hijo pródigo, y sabemos que muchos sermones han sido predicados sobre el arrepentimiento en aquella parábola. Nos dicen que «volviendo en sí, dijo: Me levantaré e iré a mi padre, y le diré: Padre, he pecado contra el cielo y contra ti”.
En la predicación, hablamos de esto como el primer paso de una vida cambiada – conversión, arrepentimiento, confesión, y retorno a Dios.
Pero, así como éste es el primer paso para el hijo pródigo, debemos recordar que éste es también el paso a seguir por Sus otros hijos que yerran – por aquellos noventa y nueve «que no necesitan arrepentimiento», o que, por lo menos, así lo piensan. Aquellos cristianos que no entienden cuán mala es su baja vida religiosa deben ser enseñados que esto es pecado – incredulidad, y que es necesario que ellos sean traídos al arrepentimiento tal como el hijo pródigo.
Ustedes han oído mucho acerca del arrepentimiento que se predica al inconverso; pero quiero ahora intentar predicarlo a los hijos de Dios. Tenemos un cuadro de muchos hijos de Dios en ese hijo mayor.
Lo que el padre le dijo para representarle su amor, un amor no inferior al que sentía por el pródigo, es lo mismo que nos dice a nosotros, que nos conformamos con una vida tan baja: «Tú debes arrepentirte y creer que yo te amo, y que todo lo que tengo es tuyo».
Él dice: «Por tu incredulidad tú me has deshonrado, viviendo por diez, veinte, o treinta años, sin creer lo que es vivir en la bienaventuranza de mi amor. Tú debes confesar que me has ofendido en esto, y debes llegar a ser verdaderamente quebrantado, en una contrición de corazón tal como mi hijo pródigo.»
Hay muchos hijos de Dios que necesitan confesar que, aunque ellos son Sus hijos, nunca han creído que las promesas de Dios son verdaderas o que Él esté dispuesto a llenar sus corazones todo el día con Su presencia bendita. ¿Usted ha creído esto? Si no es así, toda nuestra enseñanza no tendrá ningún provecho para usted. ¿No dirá: “Con el socorro de Dios, comenzaré ahora una nueva vida de fe, y no descansaré hasta saber lo que significa una vida así.
Creeré que estoy en la presencia del Padre en cada momento, y que todo lo que Él tiene es mío?”
Que el Señor nuestro Dios produzca esta convicción en los corazones de todos los creyentes fríos. ¿Alguna vez usted ha escuchado la expresión: “una convicción para la santificación”? Usted sabe, el hombre inconverso necesita una convicción antes de su conversión. Así también el cristiano que tiene su entendimiento cegado necesita convicción antes y para la santificación, antes de que él venga a una percepción real de la bienaventuranza espiritual.
Él debe ser convencido, por segunda vez, de su vida pecaminosa de dudas, de su carácter iracundo, y de su falta de amor. Él debe ser quebrantado bajo esa convicción; sólo entonces hay esperanza para él. ¡Que el Padre de misericordia conceda tal contrición profunda, para que ellos puedan ser conducidos a la
bienaventuranza de Su presencia, y disfrutar de la plenitud de Su poder y amor!.

Thus, we find our Saviour promising to those who love Him and who keep His word, that the Father also will love, and that the Father and the Son come and make their abode with them. Let this thought enter your heart, God's son is called to this blessed privilege to live every moment of his life in communion with God. He is destined to enjoy the full light of His face. Many Christians assume that most, seem to consider all the Spirit's work as limited to the conviction and conversion - not so much that He has come to dwell in our hearts, and there reveal God. He did not come to dwell near us but in us, for us to be filled internally. The Word commands us to be "filled with the Spirit," then the Holy Spirit will manifest presence of God. This is the teaching of the whole Epistle to the Hebrews: the veil is torn in two, and we have access into the holiest by the blood of Jesus. We went into the very presence of God so that we can live all day with that presence resting upon us. That presence is with us wherever we go, and in all kinds of problems do we have quiet rest and peace. "Son, thou art ever with me." There are some people who seem to think that God, for some unintelligible sovereignty, His face away. But I know too that God loves his people to withdraw his fellowship from them for any reason. The real reason for the absence of God from us be found in our sin and unbelief, and not his alleged sovereignty. If the child of God walks in faith and obedience, the Divine presence will be enjoyed in unbroken communion. Then there is the next blessed privilege: "All I have is thine." Thank God, He has given His own Son, and in his gift, he has given us all things in Him He has given us the life of Christ, His love, His Spirit, His glory. "All things are yours, and you are Christ, and Christ is God." All the riches of His Son, the eternal King, the Father gives each of His children. "Son, thou art ever with me, and all I have is thine." Is not that the meaning of all these wonderful promises made in connection with the sentence: "Whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you"? The father did not retain in their sovereignty, their gifts to the elder brother nor our Heavenly Father withhold any good thing for those who love him. "God is able to make all grace abound toward you" was the promise made to all equally in the church in Corinth.Some think these rich blessings are not for them, but for those who have more time to devote to religion and prayer, or think their circumstances are so difficult, so special, that we can not have any idea of its many obstacles. But do you think that if God has placed in such circumstances can not make His grace abound in proportion to them? Why not get it? Have we asked? We think that we are not worthy of the blessing - not good enough, and therefore, God has given us. There are among us many more than we think-or those who are willing to admit, who throw the blame on God for his blindness and away! Be careful! Be careful! Be careful! What about that other promise? The Father says: "All I have is yours." You is rejoicing in the riches of Christ? Are you aware of having an abundant supply for all your spiritual needs of every day? They sinned still doubting his power to provide meat. "They spoke against God, saying: Can a table in the wilderness?". Later we read in verse 41: "turned back and tempted God, and the Holy One of Israel."They kept distrusting Him from time to time. When they came to Kadesh-Barnea and God told them to enter the land flowing with milk and honey where they would find rest, abundance and victory, only two men said, "Yes, we can take possession, for God can give us victory." But The ten spies, and the six hundred thousand men answered: "No, we can never take the land, the enemies are too strong for us." It was just disbelief that prevented them from entering the promised land. If you have some depth in our spiritual life, we must discover and recognize the unbelief that is in our hearts. God gives us to obtain relief and we get to see that it is our unbelief that prevented God do His work in us.Unbelief is the mother of disobedience, and all my sins and failures - my anger, my pride, my lack of love, my worldliness, my sins of all kinds. Although they differ in nature and form, yet they all come from the same root, which is not believing in freedom and fullness of the Divine gift of the Holy Spirit to dwell in us, strengthen us and fill us with life and grace of God all day. Look, I pray, the eldest son, and asked what was the cause of that terrible difference between the heart of the father and son experience. There can be no other answer except that it was sinful unbelief that utterly blind to the child to the reality of the love of his father. Dear believer, I must say that if you are not living in the joy of salvation, the only cause is unbelief. So God, in His love, is always ready to impart blessing, and He is omnipotent in His love. This is true, my friends: God is omnipotent in love, and He is doing everything possible to fill every heart. "But if God is really willing, if He is Almighty, why does He not do it now?" You must remember that God has given you a will, and by the exercise of it you can hinder God, and remain under , as the eldest son, with a low life of unbelief.Consider now the cause of the difference between high and abundant provision of God for His children, and low and sad experience of many of us in unbelief that distrusts and grieves.The path of restoration, how is it done? We all know the parable of the prodigal son, and we know that many sermons have been preached about repentance in the parable. We are told that "he came to himself he said, I will arise and go to my father and say: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you." In preaching, we speak of this as the first step in a changed life - conversion, repentance, confession, and return to God. But as this is the first step for the prodigal son, we must remember that this is also the next step for His other children who make mistakes - for those ninety-nine "who need no repentance", or, at least think so. Those Christians who do not understand how bad is their low religious life should be taught that this is sin - unbelief, and that it is necessary that they be brought to repentance as the prodigal son. You have heard much about repentance is preached to the unconverted, but now I try to preach to the children of God. But here is a far more wonderful revelation of the love of the father in what he says the eldest son.If we are to experience a deepening of spiritual life, we, first, find out clearly what the spiritual life that God wants us to live, and secondly, to ask whether we are living that life, and if not, what prevents us from fully living it .This topic is divided naturally into three parts: 1. The high privilege of every child of God.2. The low experience of many believers. 3. The cause of the discrepancy, and the road to restoration of the privilege. 1. The high privilege of the sons of God. We have here two things describing the privilege: First, "Son, thou art ever with me" - constant communion with his Father is his portion, and second, "All I have is thine" - all that God can give to your children is theirs. "You are always with me '," I am always near you, you can live every hour of your life in My presence, and all I have is for you. I am a father, with the heart of a loving father. I will not take any good thing from you. "In these promises we have the privilege of the rich heritage of God. First, we have a continual fellowship with Him A father never sends his son away without reminding who loves him. The father wants his son to know who has the light of his countenance upon him all day, if he dismisses the child to school, or places as the need requires, this is with a sense of sacrifice of parental feelings . If this is the case with an earthly father, how much more God? Does he not want every child of His knowledge that constantly lives in the light of His face? Herein lies the meaning of that word: "Son, thou art ever with me." This was the privilege of the people of God in the Old Testament. As the Word says, "Enoch walked with God." God's promise to Jacob was: "Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and bring you back to the land, that will not leave you until I have done what I said." And the promise of God to Israel through Moses was, "My presence shall go with you and will give you rest." And Moses' response to the promise, he says, "And how is it known that I have found favor in your sight, I and your people, but when you go with us, and that I and your people, may be of all peoples on the face of the earth? ". The presence of God with Israel was the sign of their separation from other peoples. This is the truth taught throughout the Old Testament, and if so, how much more we can look in the New Testament? Thus, we find our Saviour promising to those who love Him and who keep His word, that the Father also will love, and that the Father and the Son come and make their abode with them. Let this thought enter your heart, God's son is called to this blessed privilege to live every moment of his life in communion with God. He is destined to enjoy the full light of His face. Many Christians assume that most, seem to consider all the Spirit's work as limited to the conviction and conversion - not so much that He has come to dwell in our hearts, and there reveal God. He did not come to dwell near us but in us, for us to be filled internally. The Word commands us to be "filled with the Spirit," then the Holy Spirit will manifest presence of God. This is the teaching of the whole Epistle to the Hebrews: the veil is torn in two, and we have access into the holiest by the blood of Jesus. We went into the very presence of God so that we can live all day with that presence resting upon us. That presence is with us wherever we go, and in all kinds of problems do we have quiet rest and peace. "Son, thou art ever with me."
